Take the high-drawn runners to come out on top in the day's best betting race, the totesport.com Heritage Handicap over six furlongs in a maximum field at Ripon.
The one that appeals most is the progressive Viking Spirit, who shaped really well against his elders on his reappearance in a red-hot Goodwood handicap last month, won by last year's Ayr Silver Cup winner Eisteddfod.
Given he met plenty of trouble that day, Walter Swinburn's colt did really well to get as close as he did to Eisteddfod, who enjoyed the run of the race against the stands-side rail.
The stall-19 draw looks ideal for him, as does the booking of Darryll Holland, who rides most of Swinburn's horses now and knows the three-year-old well as he won twice on him (from only two starts) last year.
The quick conditions won't pose any problem and although he got behind at Goodwood for that reappearance, he showed he could race up with the pace - an advantage at this course - when successful last year.
The main danger could be Mick Channon's tough and consistent Briannsta, who is berthed in stall 18 and has already been on the mark twice over today's six-furlong trip this year.
He lost nothing in defeat in a decent handicap at Newmarket last time and is likely to go well.
Others to consider are the unexposed Premier Fantasy and best of those drawn in the single figure stalls could be Joseph Henry and Karl Burke's Bold Marc.
