A BOOK showing pictures of people and places in Consett of yesteryear has gone on sale.
Pocket Images of Consett has been compiled by Derwentdale Local History Society.
It is a reproduction of The Archive Photograph Series of Consett, first published ten years ago.
This is a smaller and sleeker version, containing pictures and documents ranging from 1839-1967.
Society secretary Tommy Moore said: "Our society collected pictures anyway but when people heard about the book, they were more than happy for us to copy them and use them.
"People like to look back at their memories and remember how people or a certain shop used to look.
"Anything that has gone on in yesteryear is interesting."
Derwentdale Local History Society meets at the New Demi Pub, in Consett, on the second Tuesday of the month at 7pm.
There are guest speakers and the first visit is free.
Membership costs £7 a year.
The book is available from shops in the town and Consett Library, priced at £5.99.
For more information, or to obtain a copy, call Mr Moore on (01207) 509189.
