A CHARITY held its biggest fundraising event of the year.
Northallerton-based Chopsticks held a garden fete at Northdale Horticulture, in Northallerton, on Saturday.
Attractions included cream teas, a bouncy castle, an inflatable slide, plus a raffle and plant sale.
Money raised from the event will go towards the charity's £400,000 appeal to build a new headquarters.
Already about £70,000 has been raised by local people, which has enabled Chopsticks to buy land at Northallerton Business Park.
The charity works with 27 adults from Hambleton and Richmondshire to produce bags of kindling from scrap timber.
The charity also has a garden care scheme, where older and disabled people are helped to maintain homes and gardens to delay the need for them to enter residential care.
Richmond MP William Hague attended the event, along with Northallerton mayor, Councillor David Blades.
