VISITORS to Newton Aycliffe will be given a warm welcome after a landmark entrance was formally opened yesterday.
The town's well-known Blue Bridge, over St Cuthbert's Way, has been given a fresh lick of paint in the familiar hue sponsored by local maintenance company Mitie.
A welcoming sign has been made by Aycliffe Fabrications, which previously installed artwork at Greenfield School Community and Arts College and the new town centre park railings.
It has been installed on land at Plasmor along with a picnic tables and a bench and new paving has been laid.
The whole scheme has been a joint partnership of local companies, councils, labourers and designer Bob Jones, of School Aycliffe, and was led by the Rotary Club in its centenary year.
The president of the Rotary Club, John Burrows, launched the scheme yesterday.
