A 42-year-old man was treated in hospital for a head wound following an incident that led to four people being arrested.
The injured man was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital and detained overnight following the fracas at the junction of Dawson Road and Zetland Road, in Barnard Castle, late on Saturday.
Police said yesterday that a man and woman suspected of assault had been released on bail pending further inquiries. Another man and woman were issued with fixed penalties for public order offences.
Witnesses are asked to call Sergeant Grant McTaggart or DC Phil McElhone on 0845 606 0365.
