Shildon have appointed Garry Forrest as their new manager following the resignation of Kenny Lindoe last month, writes Ray Simpson.
Forrest was in charge of Wearside League club Coxhoe Athletic last season, and was recently linked with a possible move to Spennymoor.
When he arrives at Dean Street his first task will be to sign some players as most of last season's squad have left for other clubs.
Evenwood, meanwhile, are hoping to learn in the next few days whether they have been successful in changing their name to Spennymoor United 2005.
A meeting of the Durham FA council decided last week that it wasn't "appropriate" to allow the name change yet, and have referred the matter to FA official Mike Appleby in London.
There is disquiet in some quarters about the potential disappearance of Evenwood and the county FA have asked Appleby for clarification. County FA secretary John Topping said: "We expect to learn more in the next couple of days."
