A NEW community centre is aiming to create the right atmosphere for youngsters and parents in Bishop Auckland.
Taylor Road Community Centre, in the Henknowle area, has become the third SureStart Centre in the town, and will provide help and services to people in the area.
The centre has been given a jungle design thanks to art students from Bishop Auckland College, who decorated the early years rooms and painted murals on the doors.
Lynsey Fleming, of SureStart Wear Valley, said: "We are delighted with the artwork, which has added to the fun and friendly atmosphere we wanted to create in the centre.
"The students have been enthusiastic and hard working and we look forward to working with the college again in our other two centres."
SureStart is a Government programme which aims to achieve better outcomes for children, parents and communities by increasing childcare availability and supporting parents.
An open day will be held on Friday, June 24, from 11am until 3pm.
MP Helen Goodman MP will officially open the centre at 2pm.
