A COUNCIL has declared its support for the use of real nappies - by giving a stall to a local company at its regular farmers' market.
Ecoboo, based in Heighington, County Durham, will use the stall in Darlington Market Place to sell and promote the use of real nappies, rather than disposable ones.
The company will be joined by representatives from national real nappy firm Lollipop.
The stall is to help raise awareness of real nappies and offer parents a chance to speak to advisors, pick up information and see a wide range of nappies and accessories.
The market is on the third Friday of every month and the real nappy stall will be there from this Friday and throughout the summer.
The announcement of the new stall coincides with national Real Nappy Week, which begins next week.
Clare Adamson, from Ecoboo, said: "Parents are very interested in the modern, eco-friendly and snug reusable nappies we offer and recognise these systems are easy to use and save them money."
Councillor Stephen Harker, Darlington Borough Council's environment spokesman, said: "Hopefully, the market stall will make parents think about using real nappies and show them what alternatives are available to them."
