ORGANISERS of one of Darlington's most popular community events have declared their determination to put on a great show.
The town's community carnival is being staged over the weekend of June 25 and 26.
Organisers agreed to press ahead with their preparations recently, despite the withdrawal of some artists, who were providing workshops for groups taking part in the carnival procession.
Carnival chairman Jackie Maddison said: "Over the last 22 years we've overcome numerous difficulties and we were determined to carry on for the sake of this year's charity, Diabetes UK, and all the other community groups who benefit from the event.
"With a lot of hard work by our volunteers and with the help of Darlington Borough Council, we've managed to put on a programme with new attractions and more for the kids to enjoy."
The weekend will feature music by local bands, entertainment and a fair.
All proceeds to Diabetes UK's local youth project.
