CHILDREN from Chester-le-Street have staged a South American-style summer carnival.
Pupils at Bullion Lane Primary School have been learning about Brazil as part of the school's Big Arts Week.
They have been visited by musicians, salsa dancers and heard folk tales as well as studying the ocean and the forests.
Hundreds of parents visited the school to watch their children take part in a colourful festival on the school field.
The youngsters made the costumes and masks themselves to represent various themes.

"They festival was really colourful and they have all loved being involved in it."
