IT'S national Bike to Work Week - and they are getting in the spirit of things at Northallerton College.
The green travel team at North Yorkshire County Council has presented the college with a bicycle and trailer.
The idea is that assistant site manager Daniel Ford will be able to use the combination to carry items around the college and to nip into town.
It was presented by travel awareness assistant Saskia Kouyioumtzi and bears the slogan: "If you're not going far, forget the car."
The presentation follows in the wake of the college's school travel plan, for which it received a grant of £10,000 from the Department for Education and Skills and the Department for Transport, to encourage sustainable transport.
The college will be using that money to install cycle storage facilities and lockers, so students can cycle and have somewhere to store books and bags.
The county's executive member for environmental services, Clare Wood, said: "This is a very innovative way to address transport issues. With summer coming, I'm sure both students and staff alike will find it much more pleasant to use a bike."
