A scheme which provides second-hand furniture for needy families in Sedgefield has been given a £2,000 boost.
ACTS Furniture Scheme has been awarded the money by the North Eastern and Cumbrian Co-op.
The project, which is based in Villiers Street, Spennymoor, will use the money to cover general running costs.
Project manager Anne Poppleton said: "This donation will make a big difference to the running of the scheme.
"We are the only scheme to give furniture away without charge, and because of that we are totally dependant on grants and our own fundraising."
ACTS provides recycled furniture and kitchen appliances to disabled people and families on low income in the Sedgefield area.
The donation has been made through Co-op's Community Dividend Scheme, which supports charitable groups and good causes.
