MEN interested in working in childcare have a chance to find out more at an event being held today.
A number of projects aimed at recruiting and supporting more men into childcare will come under the spotlight at the Riverside Cricket Ground, in Chester-le-Street.
Backing for projects has come from national childcare charity, the Daycare Trust, along with funding from Sure Start and local authorities.
In recent weeks, Beverly Hughes, Minister for Children and Families, and David Blunkett, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, have spoken about the importance of and the need for more male childcare workers.
Mel Douglas, of Darlington Borough Council, one of the authorities involved, said: "Men can bring valuable skills and experience to the childcare workforce."
