AS Britain baked in the sun yesterday, Durham bowler Steve Harmison turned up the heat to help England to victory over Australia.
Harmison took five wickets for the first time in a one-day international - including three in four balls - to help England inflict the tourists' third defeat since arriving in the country.
In the opening match of the series on Saturday, Australia suffered a shock loss against cricket minnows Bangladesh.
England's hero was batsman Kevin Pietersen, who hammered 91 off 65 balls.
The next one-day encounter between the Aussies and England takes place at the Riverside, in Chester-le-Street, on Thursday.
