A BARNARD Castle theatre group is to perform one of Shakespeare's best-known plays next month.
The Castle Players are currently rehearsing their interpretation of The Taming of the Shrew, which will be performed in the grounds of Bowes Museum.
The group, which features local actors aged between 17 and 72, has regularly given its take on a number of famous plays.
"We get rave reviews every year and as a community drama group we try to encourage anyone to come along and take part in our successful productions," said director Simon Pell.
"Our cast and crew of volunteers are so dedicated that they give up a great deal of their spare time to take part, rehearsing on evenings and weekends.
"It's a lot of fun and everyone has a great time outside in the fine summer evenings."
Performances will take place between Wednesday, July 6, and Saturday, July 9. All performances start at 7.30pm, and there is an extended interval for picnics. Tickets can be booked by calling 0800 074 70 80.
