DARLINGTON Borough Council will sign an agreement with the Health and Safety Executive today to show its commitment to ensuring safe and healthy workplaces.
The agreement, which is being signed by councils around the country, will build on the links between local authorities and the HSE, both of which have responsibilities for enforcing health and safety standards in workplaces.
The agreement commits each group to work together to improve health and safety.
John Buxton, the council's director of development and environment, said: "Signing this agreement means we will be working even more closely with the HSE to make sure we keep people safe."
