STUDENTS got a taste of modern art when they took part in a project to make structures from cardboard.
Talented artists at Hurworth School Maths and Computing College, near Darlington, have been working with creative artist and architectural designer Cath Campbell.
Using only cardboard, the young designers, who have all completed their art GCSE two years early, were given instructions to create structures that reflected their surroundings. Head of art Angela Sweeten said it was an enjoyable, but challenging task.
She said: "Cath is working with the students to develop their understanding of conceptual art through creating unusual structures. She is getting them to look at how architecture affects the environment, to question their surroundings, and develop new ways of thinking.
"The structures they have made are really complex. It's really good for them to do something totally different."
