THE following cases were heard by South Durham magistrates sitting in Darlington yesterday:
l Andrew Broderick, of Westgarth Terrace, Darlington, faces 16 charges of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing child pornography. The 26-year-old will appear before Darlington Magistrates' Court again on July 5, when the case is likely to be committed to Teesside Crown Court.
l Trevor Tarirah, of Fakenham Close, Reading, had his case adjourned until August. The 30-year-old faces six charges, including two counts of theft, taking an incident image without the person's consent, recording a person doing a private act without their consent, and two charges of making a recording or image for his own sexual gratification without the other person's consent. The incidents are alleged to have happened on a train between Reading and Darlington. He is due to appear at Darlington Magistrates' Court again on August 16, when the case is likely to be committed to Teesside Crown Court
* Gary Benson, 22, of Haughton Road, Darlington, faces charges of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving with no insurance and drink-driving. The case was committed to Crown Court.
l Susan Lambert was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £310 in compensation. The 53-year-old, of Dinsdale Crescent, Darlington, admitted concealing criminal property at her home and converting stolen goods by selling them on. The court took into account her previous good character and guilty plea.
l Mark Drummond, of Station Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to theft. The 25-year-old admitted stealing five Playstation 2 games from the town's Sainsbury's store. His case was adjourned until July 14 for a pre-sentence report.
l A half-day trial has been set for Deborah Collinson, of Emerson Road, Darlington, who faces a charge of theft. The 30-year-old is due back at Darlington Magistrates' Court on July 6 at 10am. The date was set in her absence.
l A warrant without bail has been issued for Melvyn Park after he failed to turn up to court. The 32-year-old, of Peabody Street, Darlington, is charged with theft.
l Tracy Frazer, of Brankin Drive, Darlington, pleaded guilty to two charges of harassment against her ex-husband and his new partner. The 41-year-old had her case adjourned until July 14 for a pre-sentence report.
l Andrew Bell, of Killinghall Row, Darlington, faces three driving offences, including drink-driving, driving without a licence and failing to comply with a traffic sign. The charges against the 23-year-old were adjourned until July 12.
l A warrant without bail was issued for Karl Sowden after he failed to show up at court. The 37-year-old, of Corporation Road, Darlington, faces a charge of indecent assault.
l Three Darlington men have had their case committed to Teesside Crown Court. Christopher Slater, 21, of Rustland Drive, Benjamin Jolly, 20, of Farr Holme, and Edward Price, 23, of Wales Street, face one charge each of causing grievous bodily harm. The date for their crown court appearance is yet to be set
