A VILLAGE will come to a halt this weekend as the annual summer carnival takes to the streets.
Esh Winning Summer Carnival takes place on Saturday, with the parade setting off from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School at 12.45pm.
Led by Bearpark and Esh Colliery Band, schoolchildren in fancy dress will parade through the streets to the main fields at Esh Winning Junior School for the afternoon's fun.

Meanwhile, in the marquee, the fancy dress competition will be judged at 2pm, followed by a performance by the band at 2.15pm and the draw for the raffle at 4pm.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be entertainment for the children, including balloon modelling, radio-controlled model aeroplanes, magicians, fairground organ and rides as well various stalls, attractions, bouncy castles and refreshments.
Drivers are advised that streets on the parade route - Durham Road, Newhouse Road and Ridding Road - will be closed to traffic between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
