STAFF at an airbase are busy preparing for a charity concert next month.
RAF Linton-on-Ouse, near York, is holding a Gala on the Green on Friday, July 1, to raise money for local charities and celebrate the 60th anniversaries of VE and VJ Day.
The RAF College Band will provide the music on the Officers' Mess lawns and the concert will be rounded off at dusk by a flypast by a Second World War Spitfire and a firework display.
Organiser Flight Lieutenant Colin Dean said: "We want this to be a family occasion, refreshments will be available, but please feel free to bring picnic sets and blankets, even gazebos, although we would ask people not to bring barbecues."
Gates will open at 6pm and tickets can be booked by calling the main guardroom at Linton on (01347) 847474. Tickets cost £7 for adults, £5 for pensioners and £3.50 for children under 16.
