HUNDREDS of families learned how they can make a difference to the future of the world when they attended a fun day.
More than 3,000 people visited Whitworth Hall, Spennymoor, on Sunday, for the third annual Action Packed Futures event.
The event, organised by councils across County Durham, the County Durham Strategic Partnership and Groundwork Trusts, promoted sustainable living and global awareness.
Activities included music from Weapons of Sound using recycled instruments, archery, fire and rescue demonstrations, gardening, healthy living displays, arts workshops and cycle MOTs.
Hundreds of visitors chose to go green on the day itself, ditching the car in favour of a free bus service provided by Durham County Council.
Louise Harrington, sustainability officer at Sedgefield Borough Council, said: "While providing a fun day, we sent outa clear message that issues such as climate change, poverty, and loss of wildlife are affecting us not just globally, but in County Durham too.
"It's not up to just pop stars and politicians to change the world - change really does begin with you and me."
