THERE has been a huge response by North-East people trying to order copies of a DVD about war hero Andrew Mynarski.
The Wartime Memories Project, which is producing the DVDs, has today released details about how people can order copies.
The DVD, which will probably be called Andrew Mynarski -The Forgotten Hero, is expected to be completed and ready for sale in September.
However, people can fill in a booking form online to make sure they do not miss out.
Mynarksi was a Canadian air gunner who died in a valiant attempt to save the life of his friend on board a Lancaster bomber during the Second World War.
Although hailed as a hero back home, he was almost unknown to people living near Middleton St George, near Darlington, where he flew from.
The Northern Echo launched The Forgotten Hero appeal to raise the funds needed to build a statue in his memory, which was unveiled at Durham Tees Valley Airport earlier this month.
Angela Jobson, secretary for The Wartime Memories Project, said: "The DVD shows the making of the statue, its unveiling and interviews with war veterans and the families of the crew who served with Mynarksi."
The team is also producing another DVD about the North-East during the Second World War. They would like to hear from anyone who has memories or old photographs to share.
To order a copy of the DVD, log on to www.wartime memories.co.uk/forgottenhero and fill in the entry form.
Alternatively, to order a copy over the phone or to get involved in the project, call (01642) 655606.
