RUSSAIN and Coptic icons have gone on display in a North-east church.
More than 40 of the colourful religious images, created by artists from St Petersburg, in Russia, and Cairo, in Egypt, are being shown at the Waddington Street United Reformed Church, in Durham.
Some of the icons, including a series on the Northern British saints such as St Cuthbert and St Bede, have been created for the exhibition by Tatiana Kolibaba.
The exhibition, titled Contemplation In Paint, is being held until July 3.
The Reverend Ruth Crofton, from the church, said: "It is a unique exhibition. This is the first time the exhibition has been shown anywhere."
The display is open from 2pm to 4pm on Sundays, 7pm to 8.30pm on Tuesdays, 10.30am to 2pm on Wednesdays, 7pm to 8.30pm on Thursdays, 10.30am to 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Refreshments are available and groups can be accommodated by appointment.
