RESIDENTS will be able to learn more about the history of Thirsk when a new film put together by schoolchildren is shown next month.
Since February, a group of young people from the town have been working on a project called Thirsk Uncovered.
Using film and animation, they have explored everything from the first banana in Thirsk to the effect evacuees had on the town during the Second World War.
The first free screening of the film, which is a work in progress, will take place at the Ritz Cinema, Thirsk, on Saturday, July 2, at 2.30pm.
Also on show will be the 2003 film Busby Stoop - The Curse Lives On.
The project has been funded by Heritage Lottery and is a collaboration between Rural Arts North Yorkshire, Cube Media York and the Ritz Cinema.
The aim is to record and preserve Thirsk's history for future generations to enjoy.
Anyone with interesting memories or archive footage relating to Thirsk is asked to contact Janice McVay or Gerard Naughton at Rural Arts on (01845) 526536.
