More than 5,000 people turned out to enjoy the fun of Guisborough town fair.

It was the second time Guisborough Rotary Club had organised the event, which was held at and in conjunction with Gisborough Hall.

The lovely weather brought crowds to enjoy the fairground rides, entertainment, stalls and craft fair, while many just basked in the baking sunshine.

For those with the energy, there was a two-mile fun run, along with donkey rides, and appearances by the South Bank Brass Band and the Air Training Corp.

Rotarian Peter Sotheran, who organised the event, said last year's fair had been a major success, but this year had surpassed it.

"It seems much bigger and better than last year," he said.

"I'm really amazed. Last year, we had 5,000 people, but we haven't started counting this year yet. I know people come from all over East Cleveland for it, and it's a great day."

About 50 local organisations and charities had stalls at the event in order to raise cash for their concerns.

However, money made from entry fees will be distributed to charities by the Rotary Club at a later date.

Young people also took the opportunity to set up their own websites thanks to The Northern Echo's CommuniGate bus.

The bus, fully equipped with computers and experienced staff on hand, was at the event, to enable people to design their own sites and learn more about the technology.
