PARENTS are to be given the chance to find out what it is like being a teenager again.
At a free event in North-allerton, parents and other adult family members can find out about topical issues affecting older children.
They will have the opportunity to learn about drugs and alcohol abuse, smoking, sexual health and anti-social behaviour, from a team of professionals. These will include community education youth workers, the police, a drugs treatment agency and a healthcare youth co-ordinator.
The event, at the Allertonshire School, from 7pm to 9pm on Thursday, July 7, has been funded by the extended schools scheme, which encourages schools to take their services into the community and to bring the community into schools.
County councillor Caroline Patmore, executive member for youth services, said: "This is a way for us to empower the parents through knowledge and understanding, so they can help their children cope with the pressures of the teenage years."
No booking is required.
