A CHILDREN'S hospice wish has been fulfilled in a free 24-hour makeover.
The generosity from building company Rok will have an enormous effect on the Butterwick Hospice, in Stockton.
Rok approached the hospice and asked if there were any improvements its staff could do.
Butterwick always have a wishlist of things they would like done, so they sent fundraiser Andrew Brown with a list of work.
One of the biggest projects was the transformation of the dining room in the adult hospice - a place where the nurses, support staff and families can take a break or hold meetings.
An idea was produced some years ago to make the area into a bistro-like area in relaxing surroundings.
But the hospice was unable to carry out the work.
But Rok took up the challenge and, to minimise disruption to the hospice, called on staff and suppliers to get the job done in 24 hours.
Butterwick Hospice care chief executive Graham Leggatt-Chidgey said: "As a charity whose budgets are naturally very focused on patient care, we never imagined we would be able to realise this wonderful improvement."
Improvements started on Friday and the last lick of paint was added on Saturday.
The dining room will be opened at noon today.
