NURSERY children at Darlington College of Technology took a cool approach to fundraising when they donned their sunglasses for charity.

Youngsters at the college's childcare centre took part in a day-long session to raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind and awareness about sight issues.

As well as decorating their own sunglasses, the children made and sold biscuits and staged a teddy tombola, raising £46 for the charity.

Nicky Bramley, deputy officer at the centre, said: "It has been a lot of fun and a great way of raising awareness about the potential harm the sun can cause. We also used it to promote the use of suncream."
