TODDLERS were caked in everything gloopy at a fun-packed day to highlight the importance of education and playtime for youngsters.
SureStart, in Stockton, organised the messy activities day at Thornaby Family Centre while parents could learn more about the service.
Children got up to the eyes painting, playing with play mud and other mixtures and enjoying craft activities. There was also a visit from a Cleveland Fire Service fire engine.
Laura Provett, SureStart local programme manager, said: "The session was action packed, with activities for all family members. We were hoping families would come along and see for themselves what their local SureStart Centre could offer them."
June is SureStart month and the branch held a number of activities throughout last week to promote child safety and provide advice and guidance for families.
SureStart aims to help families give children the best start in life through love, care, education and play.
