PUPILS had a day off from wearing school uniform when they donned the wrong trousers to raise money for charity.
About 160 youngsters at Newton Hall Infants School, in Durham, took part in a day themed on the Wallace and Gromit animation to raise money for St Oswald's Hospice, in Newcastle.
The children taking part in the event were allowed to wear what they wanted in place of their usual trousers, in return for donating £1 to the hospice, which has a children's unit.
Some turned up in pyjamas or brightly-coloured beach shorts.
Staff also took part in the fun.
