CHILDREN have been forging new friendships through an initiative run by Barnard Castle School.
Youngsters have been coming together to sing songs, culminating in a service in Barnard Castle School's chapel.
Children from Arkengarthdale, Cotherstone, Gainford and Startforth Primary Schools joined their new friends from Barnard Castle Preparatory School in an anthology of hymns and readings.
The service was also attended by parents and governors of all the schools.
It was the latest in a series of events organised by Barnard Castle School, including cricket, squash and rugby coaching sessions, designed to strengthen links with the community.
Chaplain Stephen Ridley said: "Celebrating local friendships is a very positive thing and it is wonderful for our chapel to be used this way."
