A ROCK concert proved a star attraction at Bedale's annual Scout and Guide fete on Saturday.
For the first time, the Bedale and Villages Community Plan Forum arranged a Battle of the Bands to complement the fete.
Five bands contested the first prize of a day's recording time at The Studio in Hartlepool, sponsored by Dalesprint Supplies. The winning band was White Fire, of Bedale.
Organisers say the fete was a huge success, with more than 1,000 people of all ages attending.
The day began with a parade through the town. The Crakethorpe Guide group's float of cave girls was judged the best in the parade.
Catherine Megson, a member of the events working party, said lots of young people had already said they wanted to see more events like it.
She said: "It's nice to have that feedback and it's something we have always planned to do next year.
"We're very pleased with the whole day, it's taken five months of arranging."
