STAFF at Dogs Trust Darlington are trying to find people who want to provide a home for a dog, after being inundated with two particular breeds - lurchers and greyhounds.
The trust cares for about 120 dogs at the rehoming centre at any one time.
It is unusual for the centre to have such a high percentage of greyhounds and lurchers, which now make up more than ten per cent of all dogs.
Minnie is a two-year-old female lurcher, who is very affectionate and is looking for a quiet life in a home with no other pets.
She has been at the trust for two weeks.
Centre manager Sue Embleton said: "Both greyhounds and lurchers are really good-natured breeds and very tolerant of children.
"They make a great companion and an ideal family pet as they are equally happy lounging on the sofa as they are running around the park."
Anyone who wishes to offer any of the dogs a home can call the centre on (01325) 333114.
