Yorkshire left-arm fast bowler David Lucas has had his contract extended until the end of the summer, writes David Warner.
Lucas was signed from Nottinghamshire at the start of the season for three months but director of cricket, David Byas, said yesterday: "I am delighted that he will be staying with us but we not going to commit ourselves beyond this season at the moment because of the limited opportunities he has had to prove himself.
"This is primarily due to Matthew Hoggard being available far more often than we had anticipated but I expect that Lucas will get more chances once Hoggard has left us in the middle of July.
"I have been very impressed with Lucas' general attitude, particularly as he has not been able to play much cricket."
Lucas' only first-team appearance so far was in the three-day match against Leeds-Bradford Universities, when he took six for 20.
Byas has named an unchanged team for today's Twenty20 Cup match against Durham at Headingley. Fans will be watching Ian Harvey, who followed up his 74 at Trent Bridge last Sunday with a 109 against Derbyshire.
Yorkshire: Harvey, Wood, Jaques, McGrath, Lumb, White, Pyrah, Dawood, Dawson, Bresnan, Hoggard.
