THE Durham and Chester-le-Street Alzheimer's Society is holding a series of events for Alzheimer's Awareness Week which starts on Sunday.
On Monday, the branch will hold its annual candle vigil in St Mary's and St Cuthbert's Church, Chester-le-Street, at 12.30pm.
Anyone affected by Alzheimer's Disease or other dementia can join members for a short service of remembrance.
The society will hold its annual meeting at Chester-le-Street Civic Centre on Tuesday, at 7pm, when Dr Brian Docherty, medical director of the Durham Cluster of Prisons, will give a talk called The Health of Prisoners - Does it Really Matter?
The annual meeting is open to the public as well as society members.
On Wednesday, the branch will hold a flower-arranging demonstration in the Parish Centre of St Mary's and St Cuthbert's, at 7pm.
It will also hold collections at the Tesco stores in Durham and Chester-le-Street. Volunteers will be in Chester-le-Street on Tuesday and Friday, July 1, and in Durham on Wednesday and Thursday.
