A CREATIVE writing competition organised by a church has been hailed as a success.
All Saints Church, in Hurworth, near Darlington, opened the competition to children living or going to school in the village.
The youngsters produced some inspiring pieces of work on the theme "we cannot survive alone".
The Reverend Michelle Ferguson said: "We were delighted with the number and standard of entries.
"What a delight to hear such talent, strength and compassion in the voices of young people."
The winners of the four age groups were: 11-year olds - Rebecca Verity; 12-year-olds - Craig Turnbull; 13-year-olds Emma Shakeshaft; 14 to 15-year-olds - Joe Long.
