SARAH COCKINGS, the region's most recent Lottery millionaire, is keeping her fingers crossed for Britain in tonight's EuroMillions draw.
The 21-year-old, from Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, who won £3m on the National Lottery in April, is hoping lightning strikes twice after she bought tickets for tonight's £40m EuroMillions Rollover draw. Yesterday, Ms Cockings donned a Britannia outfit with Union flag, spiked trident, shield and lion to promote the draw.
She said: "It is brilliant that there is such a huge jackpot to play for.
"I have bought some tickets and shared them with my family and friends.
"We are still celebrating after my amazing win, but I cannot imagine what the party would be like if one of us hit the jackpot and scooped another £40m."
After her win, Ms Cockings and long-term boyfriend Roy Kelley, 21, became engaged during a Turkish holiday.
Last year, Marion Richardson, from Gateshead, became the UK's first EuroMillions winner with a £16.75m jackpot.
