TEENAGER Natalie Gray is forging an office career thanks to a community project.
Natalie, has been given a permanent job as an administrator at West View Advice and Resource Centre, in Miers Avenue, Hartlepool, after successfully completing a two-year voluntary sector traineeship.
The scheme, funded by the North Hartlepool Partnership project and the Learning and Skills Council Tees Valley, was designed to encourage more young people to pursue careers in the voluntary sector, with p;aid apprenticeships.
Natalie spent two years working at the West View centre with manager Val Evens as her mentor.
During that time, which also involved studying at Hartlepool training firm JHP Training, Natalie gained NVQ levels 2 and 3 in business administration, covering everything from computer work, carrying out research and preparing reports to customer service skills and dealing with accounts.
Natalie said: "The traineeship was hard work, but I have really enjoyed it and I'm over the moon to have got a permanent job at the end of it."
