DOG owners can have their pets neutered for free at a dog show and open day this weekend.
The Durham and District branch of the RSPCA is holding the event at 1pm on Sunday, at the Deerness Kennels, in Langley Moor, Durham City.
During the day, vouchers will be given away to enable dog owners on a low income to have their animals neutered free of charge.
Owners must take proof they are receiving any of the following benefits: Working Tax Credit, Income Support, Housing Benefit, Jobseekers' Allowance or Council Tax Benefit.
The vouchers, jointly funded by the RSPCA and Dogs Trust, can be redeemed at participating vets - an operation which would normally cost between £60 and £120.
The scheme has been introduced to reduce the number of unwanted litters in the area.
Any owners considering putting their pet in for the dog show, can telephone (01388) 730248 for class details.
