SHARKS and other monsters of the deep have gone on display to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
A life-size shark's jaw bone, great whites and hammerheads, and Jurassic sea creatures will be on display at the Monsters of the Deep exhibition, at the Museum of Hartlepool.
The exhibition opened last Saturday and will run until September 18, with displays open for viewing every day.
Marketing officer Claire Munroe said the exhibition had something for everyone, and was free of charge.
"I think everyone is fascinated by sharks and other creatures from the sea, so there is something that will interest everyone here," she said.
"We have a 30ft squid hanging from the ceiling and a dugong on show, similar to a walrus, which is the creature thought to have been the origin of the mythical mermaids."
The exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm every day at the museum at the Hartlepool Historic Quay.
