A COUPLE who met at a dance have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Reg and Nancy Scott shared a passion for ballroom dancing since they met at the event in Stanley in 1939.
Mr Scott, 84, served in their air force and Mrs Scott, 83, worked in the Daimler factory in Coventry during the Second World War.
They were wed on June 29, 1945, and continued doing the foxtrot, quickstep waltz and tango until they retired.
Mr Scott worked as a miner, but he later became the bar manager at South Moor Golf Club while his wife was in charge of the catering.
They worked together for 19 years, meaning they could see as much of each other as possible.
The couple have four children and three grandchildren.
The couple celebrated their 60 years together with a party for family and friends on Wednesday.
Mr Scott, of Ash Terrace, Craghead, Stanley, said: "We were always very busy but we really enjoyed working together."
Mrs Scott said she was delighted to be celebrating her diamond wedding anniversary.
She said: "We have had our ups and downs, but you get over it. It seems to be different now, and people split up after a row.
"Couples need to pull together to get through and keep going."
