A TALENT showcase for young singers is one of the attractions of this weekend's Durham Summer Festival.
Sixty youngsters aged seven to 13 will take to a stage put up in the Market Place today and tomorrow in the festival's Mini Idols event.
Vocalists will sing their favourite tunes and, though there will be no winner as it is not a competition, everyone who takes part will be entered in a draw to win a ticket for four people to go to Euro Disney, Paris.
The event will take place from noon to 3pm today, hosted by Century FM presenters Judie McCourt and Lisa Shaw, and tomorrow, from 1pm to 4pm, when Ms McCourt and fellow presenter Peter Bold will be in charge of proceedings.
A spokesman for the organisers, the Durham City Forum, said: "It isn't so much a competition as a showcase of talent. There are no winners and losers but somebody will win a trip to Euro Disney, Paris in the draw.
"There has been a good response, but we still have slots available. People can get their entries in advance or turn up on the day.''
To enter call Steve or Tory at Century FM on 0191-477 6666 or pick up a leaflet from the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre.
The two-day festival, designed to draw visitors from near and far, will feature displays of cars from films, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, tomorrow.
Other attractions include a children's climbing wall in Millennium Place today and entertainment including a Hungarian dance troupe.
An Anglo Saxon re-enactment group, falconry displays and crafts marquee will also feature in the popular event.
