THE owners of a nursery are appealing for donations to fill a plant bank for people whose gardens have been swamped by floods.
Many gardens were washed out by the torrents of floodwater that poured off the North York Moors two weeks ago. Now Malcolm and Susan Turner at Hollin Barn Nurseries in Thirsk have set up a plant bank to act as a collection point for plants, cuttings and top soil.
An appeal has also gone out to anyone who can provide free labour to help replant gardens of elderly flood victims. Any plants, top soil or offers of help can be left at the nursery, on Sutton Road, on (01845) 522961 or via the Reverend Toddy Hoare on (01845) 537277.
