LIBRARIES across North Yorkshire are encouraging children to go on a voyage of reading this summer.
Youngsters who sign up to North Yorkshire County Council's summer reading challenge will be given a log book and will collect stickers and bookmarks as they progress.
Those who read six books over the holidays will be rewarded with a certificate and medal.
More than 4,000 children took part in last year's reading challenge, known as the Reading Rollercoaster.
County councillor Chris Metcalfe said: "The summer reading challenge is a great opportunity to get children interested in reading and books, and to instill the reading habit.
"They can try new authors and genres and be rewarded for enjoying such a worthwhile activity.
"By linking reading with other activities, children are able to stretch their imagination and explore further than just the story in the book."
More details on events on offer from July 16 are available from the individual libraries.
