Durham Coast League: There's no change at the top following the double programme. Leaders Murton failed to win either game, but their nearest rivals also faltered.
At Ryhope yesterday, Murton were only seven runs short of a winning target with three wickets remaining when time was called.
Richard Lowes (49) and Andy Upperton (40) set them on their way with a second-wicket partnership but when Craig Smith and Graeme Smith both took three wickets, Ryhope were back in the game.
Their 183 for six was founded on a mid-innings stand between Greg Arundel (56) and Craig Smith with an unbeaten 31.
After losing on Saturday, Castle Eden drew with Washington. Gerard Magee (75) and Michael Higgin (84) propelled the total to 209 for two, but when Stephen Cuthbertson and Mark Lee both made 48 and Nick Thompson 52, Washington were healthily positioned at 177 for seven.
Seaham Park, who gave Murton a tough game on Saturday, suffered defeat at home to neighbours Dawdon.
Craig Price took seven for 36 reducing the Park to 164 before Michael Watson (72) and Andrew Stevenson (44 not out) laid the foundations for an eight-wicket victory.
Paul Smailes hit an unbeaten 103 in Silksworth's eight-wicket defeat of Easington while Houghton, still bottom, produced a much improved performance holding Peterlee to a draw.
Carl Miller's 65 was important in a total of 215 and although Stephen McCoy contributed 65, Peterlee were only 149 for eight at stumps.
Jeff Tudor (105 not out) was again in good form for Bill Quay but his side's total of 206 for four failed to earn victory at Boldon CA who responded with 162 for eight.
A century by James Taylor on Saturday and 50 not out from Michael McNicholas put Seaham Park into a strong position against Murton.
Taylor struck two sixes and 12 fours in 108 and his partner had six boundaries as they led their side to 224-7 in 49 overs. Calvin Stephenson took four wickets and then remained unbeaten on 37 as Murton replied with 117-6.
Castle Eden, who started the first day of the double programme in second position, were all out for 130 at Silksworth for whom Mark Foster took seven for 46.
When they batted first the home side were in trouble until late order batsman Steve Lobban (46) made a vital contribution to his side's total of 156.
Peterlee had seven wickets in hand of Boldon CA, who were all out for 135. Stephen McCoy, Gary Unitt and Dale Butler all made at least 30 guiding Peterlee to their fourth win of the season.
A century by Jeff Tudor, who batted throughout for an unbeaten 117, laid the foundations for Bill Quay's win over Houghton, who never threatened the target of 218.
Lee Husband made a sound 40 for the bottom side before the innings closed on 121 as David Brown produced magnificent figures of nine for 45.
