A MATRON with more than 40 years' NHS experience has bid farewell to her wards.
Sheelagh Whittaker, clinical matron of gastroenterology at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough began her nursing training in 1964.
She spent five years running a clinic in Africa before joining South Cleveland Hospital - now James Cook - 23 years ago.
