Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League Premier Division: Saltburn are still out in front following the double weekend programme.
After Saturday's four-run victory over nearest challengers Guisborough, they were held to a draw by Darlington yesterday but still took a healthy 15 points from the game.
Adil Ditta (106) and Tony Bell (104 not out) laid firm foundations and Richie Storr added an unbeaten 51 to the total of 286 for two which came from only 45 overs.
Openers Neil Pratt (71) and Danny Morgans (76) gave Darlington a good send off but when Singh took 5-62 the innings slumped to 208-8 after 55 overs.
Saul Clifford (74) and Imran Jan (59) top performed in leading second-top Guisborough to 246 for six at Marske who were 180-4 at stumps. Rob Nicol was again in splendid form, batting throughout for an unbeaten 80. Ryan Lazenby contributed a half-century.
Bishop Auckland maintained their title challenge when they secured the quickest win of the day. Billingham Synthonia were all out in 29.2 overs for only 65 as Ben Usher returned the magnificent figures of 8-25 from 14.2 overs.
Darlington RA enjoyed a good weekend gaining a total of 34 points.
They easily saw off Normanby Hall when Graeme Hird (5-52) and David Eckels (3-59) reduced the home side to 159.
Danny Page (83 not out) and Eckels (51 not out) then completed a comprehensive nine wicket win.
Middlesbrough won both matches, completing the double yesterday with victory over Northallerton.
David Birkett (50) led Boro to 171 and Northallerton managed only 136 despite the efforts of captain Ian Gill (55) who could not prevent a second defeat in as many days.
Great Ayton edged past Richmondshire by 11 runs. Darren Hickey's 50 was useful in a total of 175-8 and although Shanoka Dissanayake made 73 before being run out, the home side fell short of the target.
The game at Park Drive ended in a draw. John Cannon top scored with 65 not out in the Hartlepool total of 213-5 and replying Redcar were 164-6 at stumps. Lee Powell (57 not out) and Stuart McKay (39 not out) saved the day with an unbroken seven wicket partnership.
On Saturday Saltburn edged past arch rivals Guisborough by four runs in the match of the day.
After losing the wickets of their first three batsmen for just 23 runs, Guisborough recovered and were in a strong position with Imran Jan (48) and Johnny May at the wicket.
Their fourth wicket partnership looked like winning the game but following the dismissal of Jan, the innings collapsed and ended on the last ball of the final over. May was unbeaten on 65, having struck nine boundaries.
Tony Bell top-performed with 69, including 11 fours, when Saltburn's 50 overs produced a total of 180. Chris Murray returned five for 75 in 17 overs and David Towse bowled unchanged for 25 overs, taking four for 67.
Darlington enjoyed a six-wicket win at Northallerton.
Doug Mulholland's 47 was the best the home team could produce in 141 before Stephen Chapman (47) and Ricky Hopwood (37) steered Darlington into a winning position.
Clive Layfield struck 15 boundaries as he batted throughout the Richmondshire innings for 109 not out, leading his side to an impressive 248 for five at home to Normanby Hall.
Muhammad Zahid also bowled unchanged at one end and his 25 overs yielded four for 78 before the Hall were all out for 149. Shanoka Dissanayake sent down 21 continuous overs, returning five for 84.
Billingham Synthonia laboured through 42.5 overs before being dismissed for just 100 at home to Middlesbrough, for whom Mitch Claydon had the magnificent figures of five for 13 runs in 12 overs.
Despite Martin Cull taking six for 87 in 25 overs, runs were more plentiful for the Boro batsmen who posted 206 for eight, including a top-scoring 53 by Darren Birkett.
Redcar won the derby at home to Marske. Rob Nicol scored 90 of the Marske total of 159 for nine before Martin Hood (73 not out) and Steve De Bolfo (64 no) swept Redcar to a nine wicket win.
Bishop Auckland were well short of their target at Hartlepool where they comfortably gained a draw. Amul Mazumdar (41), Andy Bowman (65 no) and Ben Usher (34) took Bishops to 175 for four.
Batting first, Pools realised 251 for six - the highest score of the day - as Richie Evans hit a top-scoring 74 and Andy Carter ended unbeaten with 56.
The game between Great Ayton and Darlington RA also ended even.
David Eckels and Ashar Zahdi both contributed half centuries to the RA total of 200 for six but hopes of victory for Ayton ended when the innings produced 170 for six, including 72 by Johnny Grainge.
