CHRIS Llewellyn last night became the latest to sign up for Martin Scott's assault on League One next season.
Wrexham's Wales international striker has followed Cardiff midfielder Lee Bullock in moving to Hartlepool United, days after Thomas Butler signed a new deal at Victoria Park.
Llewellyn has been capped four times by his country and was named in John Toshack's squad for a Spanish training camp in May.
His last international caps came more than 12 months ago in friendlies with Canada and Norway - Pool's Eifion Williams was called into those squads, but had to withdraw through injury.
Llewellyn was under contract at the Racecourse Ground for another 12 months, but Pool are believed to have paid around £40,000 for his services.
The striker bagged 12 goals last season, playing mainly on the left wing, and was in the Wrexham side who spectacularly beat Pool 6-4 at Victoria Park, creating three goals and earning a penalty to boot.
"It's a signing I'm really pleased with,'' admitted Scott. "We've got three in within a week and we've made three very good signings.
"Chris is a player I've kept tabs on over the years and the thing for me is that every time we have faced him, he's done something and made a difference. He's always stood out.
"He can play on the left or right, in central midfield, off the front man or as a striker - that's five different roles and it's important to have players like that.''
Scott added: "I spoke to Denis Smith about him and he's gutted to lose him, but Chris sees coming here as improving both his career and his chances of playing for his country.
"Just like Lee Bullock, there was other teams interested, but the pleasing thing is that they both wanted to come to Hartlepool because they see the club as an attractive proposition.
"Denis understands his situation and has been very good about it. He didn't want to lose him, but Chris was desperate to sign for us.''
The 25-year-old passed a medical last night and will meet up with his new team-mates for the first time this morning.
"Chris has been around the training grounds and had a good look at everything,'' added Scott. "He can't wait to get started here.''
Swansea-born Llewellyn moved to north Wales from Norwich in 2003 and has also had a loan spell at Bristol Rovers, facing Pool at the Memorial Ground in March 2003.
* Pool's Carling Cup first round tie with Darlington at Victoria Park on Tuesday, August 23 has been made all-ticket on police advice. Both clubs have yet to announce ticket details.
