PUPILS are celebrating a football league and cup double for the second season in a row.
The ten and 11-year-olds at Esh Winning Primary School won both the Deerness Valley Primary Schools League and the Aged Miners Trophy, just as they did the season before.
They secured 54 points from 22 league matches, and took the title on the slenderest possible goal difference.
Five of the top six teams in the league went on to compete for the Aged Miners Trophy on a round-robin basis and Esh Winning emerged victorious, winning three of their four games.
"I'm very pleased with it. We won it last year, but we had some very big year six lads who were playing and they have all moved on,'' said teacher and manager Joe Coburn.
"The lads playing this year were mainly year five and they have another year to play so, hopefully, we can do it again next season.
"We get a lot of support from a company called Mr Football, which comes in and works with the youngsters, and some of the success is down to Mitch Whelans of Mr Football.''
