A COMMUNITY park was opened at the weekend with a host of activities and entertainment.
The launch of the Eastfields/Westfields Doorstep Green, in South Moor, Stanley, was the culmination of a three-year project and cost about £270,000.
The park was developed by South Moor Partnership, working with Derwentside District Council and Groundwork West Durham.
Organisations attending Saturday's event included Supporting Parents Network, the Green Corridor Neighbourhood Partnership, SureStart Stanley and Derwentside Primary Care Trust.
The events included a health tent, practical help and advice on men's health, such as healthy eating.
Other activities included willow-weaving and kite-making, a giant slide, inflatables, ball pool, soft play area and quad bikes for young people.
The Eastfields/ Westfields project is one of about 200 Doorstep Greens being created in England under a Countryside Agency initiative supported by more than £12m from the Big Lottery Fund, under the fund's Green Spaces and Sustainable Communities Initiative.
